In May of 2017, I had the opportunity to join Go on the Mission for a trip to Senegal, West Africa. I consider any kind of travel to be a privilege — to see new parts of the world, meet new people, and experience a new culture. What an honor! However, I did not expect to come home with such a heavy burden for the people of Senegal.

In the summer of 2016 I was invited to go on a medical mission trip to Mazatlán, Mexico. My first response was YES! Quickly followed by fear and doubt then I talked myself out of going, fear won again, or did it?

At different intervals during a Senegalese child’s school career, they are required to take a large government exam, the first of which takes place at the end of elementary education.  This is a very big deal not only for the child but the family as well.
