About Microenterprise Development

Why Invest in Microenterprise Development?

Persistent chronic poverty is a major roadblock to economic, spiritual, physical health, and overall cultural development. At the same time, victimization of the poor by corrupt power brokers in the developing nations where GO works is rampant, perpetuating poverty, dependence and hopelessness. Small and medium enterprise development is a widely proven strategy for broad economic breakthrough. It promotes healthy self-reliance and on-going income generation rather than continuing dependence on outside charitable funding.

How it Works?

Through your generous efforts, business loans are extended from the micro level to small and medium businesses that will employ numerous people. After attentive due diligence, mentoring and coaching, small businesses are launched that yield sustainable income for people who had no other means of accessing financial resources. Your contribution towards any of the microenterprise development projects will be deployed through our trusted field partner to the borrower and repaid according to the specified terms. Your contribution is an investment with multiplying effect. Once the loan is repaid to the bank it will continue to be reinvested in sustainable small businesses in the nation of Senegal.

Is Advocacy Your Next Step?

Posted 12.26.11

GO is passionate about helping end extreme poverty around the world. This, however cannot be achieved by simply seeing one or even 100 children sponsored. Child advocacy is a deliberate and scalable chain reaction model to end extreme poverty in a sustainable way. The chain reaction aspect of this is easy. Child advocates simply recruit other advocates creating a ripple affect of advocates dedicated to seeing kids around the world get sponsored. These children will receive a valuable education so they can help lift their families and communities out of poverty. Advocacy is an exciting way that you can be part of this chain reaction. The heart of an advocate is finding sponsors for 5 children over the next 3 months. An advocate will connect with family, friends, coworkers, and community members to encourage them to sponsor a child in need and become an advocate themselves. If you are interested in hearing more about the program or would like to become a child advocate, follow the link where you will find helpful resources explaining what it means to be an advocate as well as steps to make your efforts easier and more effective. Click Here!

MAZATLAN YOUTH TRIP 2012 Register as a group through your church
(Approx $1900) June 21 – 30 (Suggested)

Every summer, teams from all Washington over travel to Mazatlan, Mexico for two weeks to further God’s mission by serving local Christian churches. This means team members also get the chance to serve all the various outreach ministries each church supports – surrounding neighborhoods, feeding centers, orphanages, dump towns, elderly asylums, and the prison.  You will also work together with these churches to host a four day ‘Camp de Futbol’ for the children of Mazatlan, where kids get a t-shirt, soccer ball, and a chance to learn about Jesus in a group of their friends.

This trip is designed for team members to work together in groups from their home church, growing deeper together in their understanding of God’s mission in another culture, and broadening their overall perspectives of the world. Students will also meet and work together with students from other churches and from local Mazatlan churches to coach Camp de Futbol small groups, giving them an opportunity to develop their teamwork capabilities and communication skills. If you’re interested in bringing a group from your church, please email Nick and Stephanie Dickenson at stephanie.dickenson@goonthemission.com
